Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti stressed that strengthening peace and security in Africa requires closer coordination between the countries of the continent.

Speaking during the 12th session of the high-level seminar on peace and security in Africa, currently being held in Algeria, he also emphasized the importance of strengthening preventive diplomacy, military and security cooperation, the exchange of intelligence information and the unification of national strategies to combat crime and terrorism, we read in a press release published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Nafti recalled that Tunisia has always supported African and international efforts aimed at establishing peace, strengthening security and consolidating stability, particularly in Africa, through its active participation in peacekeeping missions under the banner of the United Nations or the African Union.

On the sidelines of this event, the minister met the UN Deputy Assistant Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix who highlighted the results of the international conference on “the role of armed forces in the protection of civilians during peace operations”, held in Tunisia last July in partnership with the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations.
