Trump’s Venezuela Plan: Rubio, Hegseth & Team Named

by Archynetys World Desk

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Monday that the secretaries of State and War (Marco Rubio and Pete Hegseth, respectively), the advisor on security and migration issues, Stephen Miller, as well as his vice president JD Vance, will be in charge of coordinating the transition in Venezuela.

The president made this announcement in a telephone interview with NBC News. In that sense, he pointed out that, despite the makeup of this group of officials, he will be the one who makes the decisions.

“It’s a group of everyone. They are all experts in different (fields),” Trump said. Likewise, he was happy with the attitude of Delcy Rodríguez in these first days as leader of the Chavista Government.

“I have the feeling that they are cooperating. They need help. And I have the feeling that (Rodríguez) loves his country and wants his country to survive,” said the US president.

The president added that there was no contact from Washington with Rodríguez before the military operation that detained Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, in their residence in Caracas, in which several military areas in the Venezuelan capital were also bombed.

Trump insisted that the United States is not at war with Venezuela but with those who “trafficker drugs.”

There will be no elections in the short term

On the other hand, Trump ruled out elections in Venezuela in the next 30 days. This is because he believes that the country needs to “recover its health.”

“First we have to fix the country. Elections cannot be held. There is no way for people to vote,” said the head of state.
