WASHINGTON DC, KOMPAS.com – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump in the White House to discuss efforts to stop the Israeli attack in Gaza.
The meeting took place after Netanyahu delivered a speech at the UN General Assembly on Friday (9/26/2025), which confirmed that Israel had to complete its military operations against Hamas in Gaza.
Trump is said to have submitted a proposal containing 21 points related to the ceasefire immediately or to stop the war in Gaza.

Three Arab officials who knew the plan said, the contents of the proposal included the release of all hostages in 48 hours and the withdrawal of Israeli troops gradually from the Palestinian pockets.
However, officials who declined to be named confirmed that the plan was still temporary and was very likely to change.
Trump previously discussed the proposal with a number of Arab leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Hamas and Mediator Response
A Hamas official revealed that his party had received information about the plan, but had not received an official offer from the Egyptian or Qatar mediator.
“Hamas is ready to study each proposal positively and responsibly,” said the official, quoted from AP News on Sunday (9/28/2025).
Hamas had previously stated his willingness to free all hostages on condition that the war was stopped and Israeli forces were fully withdrawn from the Gaza Strip.

The role of Egypt and diplomatic visit
The US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, is scheduled to visit Cairo early next month to discuss the ceasefire as well as an increasingly tenuous Egyptian relationship.
The US Embassy in Israel said Huckabee’s visit to Egypt was part of a routine diplomatic consultation with regional partners.
Two Egyptian officials who knew the agenda said that the visit plan had not yet been announced publicly and the details could change.
The relationship between Egypt and Israel worsens
Egypt, the first Arab state to establish a peace agreement with Israel in 1979, later showed the tension of relations with Tel Aviv.
This condition was triggered by Israeli attacks targeting Hamas leaders in Doha and fears that the flow of Palestinian refugees from Gaza will enter Egypt.

In addition, Israel also expressed concern about the increase in the Egyptian military power on the Sinai Peninsula which was considered to violate the provisions of the peace agreement of the two countries.
