It shows a fact check that Reuters has completed.
“All of these are white farmers who have been buried,” Trump told his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa in the White House on Wednesday, showing the printing of an image from an article.
The photo is a screenshot taken from a video that Reuters published February 3 and shows humanitarian team lifting equal bags in the city of Goma in Congo. The picture was taken after battles between Congolese government forces and the Rwanda-supported M23 rebels.
The image printing that Trump showed in the oval office stems from an article in the Conservative online magazine American Thinker. The article dealt with conflicts and racial contradictions in South Africa and Congo. The image lacks caption, but is identified as a screenshot from YouTube. It is linked to a video feature about Congo, where Reuters is stated as a source.
The White House has not responded to Reuters’ inquiries about comments after the fact check. American Thinker’s editor -in -chief Andrea Widburg, who authored the post where Trump had retrieved the photo, writes in a response to Reuters that Trump had “mis -identified the image”.
