Trump Announces Bid for Greenland Again

It has already been reported that US Vice President James David Wens will go to Greenland with his wife Ush on Friday to visit the Pitufik’s US Space Force Base.

Initially, the Americans had a much larger program, but Danish Prime Minister Mete Frederiksen and Greenland Prime Minister Mute Egede sharply criticized the plans of the US delegation without an invitation to visit the Arctic Island.

Washington later announced that a US delegation visit Greenland is limited to a visit to the United States Army base.

Trump has repeatedly emphasized since returning to the White House that he wants Greenland to enter the US, and has refused to exclude power to achieve his goal.

“We need Greenland for international security. We need it. We need to get it. I don’t like it, but we have to get it,”

In a conversation with journalist Vins Collinis, Trump announced.

The initial US delegation plan called for a negative reaction of Greenland and Danish politicians, including, among other things, that in Greenland, negotiations are currently being negotiated on the creation of a new coalition government.

Egede called the initial plan as foreign intervention, stating that the government had not sent invitations to visit.

“I think it is very positive that the Americans have canceled their visit to Greenland. They will only visit their base in pitufics, and we have nothing to object to it,” Danish Foreign Minister Lars Leke Rasmussen told public broadcasters today.

Greenland officials have repeatedly stated that Greenland does not want to be the territory of Denmark or the US, but is open to business with everyone.

According to public opinion polls, most Greenlands support independence from Denmark but not joining the US.

After the March 11 elections, the Interim Government is operating in Greenland, and the parties are still in negotiations on the establishment of a new coalition government. Egede has called on “all countries respect this process”.

Mark Jakobsen, a lecturer at the Royal College of Denmark, called the decision to restrict the US visit to the US, and the term was also used by the Danish Foreign Minister.

“The fact that Greenland and Danish authorities announce that you are not welcome is important,” Jakobsen emphasized in a conversation with AFP, adding that a major role in changing the visit program may also played for the expected negative reflection of the media and social networks and protests against US officials.
