A chilling incident unfolded at the Killeen Mall in Texas on Saturday night, leaving at least five people injured and the suspect dead after a confrontation with law enforcement.
Truck Rampage Erupts at Busy Texas Mall
Around 5 p.m. local time, an officer alerted authorities about a suspected drunk driver. A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper located the vehicle, a black truck, in the neighboring city of Belton and initiated a pursuit. The chase led them into the Killeen Mall parking lot, where the truck crashed through the front doors of a JCPenney store.
According to Sergeant Bryan Washko, the driver proceeded to drive through the store, recklessly striking several people in his path.
Law Enforcement Intervenes in Deadly Confrontation
A trooper and a Killeen Police officer bravely pursued the suspect on foot, ultimately engaging in gunfire to neutralize the threat.
The suspect was killed during the confrontation.
Casualties and Investigation
Multiple people sustained injuries, ranging in age from 6 to 75. Four individuals were transported to local hospitals via ambulance, while one person chose to self-transport.
