Italian skiers Make Their Mark on European Slopes

Young Italian athletes have recently showcased their talent on the international stage, achieving notable results in various FIS (International Ski Federation) races across Europe. From the challenging slopes of Sierra Nevada in Spain to the picturesque Alpe Cermis in Cavalese,Italy,these skiers are demonstrating their potential and contributing to Italy’s rich skiing heritage.

Tranchina’s Strong Performance in Sierra Nevada Slalom

Pietro Tranchina,representing Ski Club Claviere,concluded his participation in the Sierra Nevada FIS competitions wiht a commendable sixth-place finish in the slalom event. The race, held on Wednesday, april 9th, saw Xavier Cornella GuitaRella Guita of Andorra’s Este Club take the top spot with a total time of 1 minute, 38.80 seconds. Tranchina finished 2.19 seconds behind the leader.

While Tranchina faced disappointment in the giant slalom, where he did not finish, he also participated in the super-G events during the Iberian championships. He secured ninth place in the Iberian championships super-G,won by Ander Mintegui,and fourteenth in a separate FIS super-G race,where Albert Ortega of the Molina Club d’Esports claimed victory.

Mattio Secures podium Finish in Cavalese Giant Slalom

Meanwhile, on the Italian side of the Alps, sofia Mattio of the Sestriere Ski Club earned a well-deserved third place in the FIS-NJR (National Junior Race) giant slalom held at Alpe Cermis in Cavalese. The race, part of the Pasta Felicetti Trophy, saw Cecilia Pizzinato of Ski Club Courmayeur Mont Blanc from the Valle d’Aosta region emerge victorious with a total time of 1 minute, 40.92 seconds. Mattio finished just 0.46 seconds behind Pizzinato.

Francesca, from the Veronese Team, closely followed Pizzinato, finishing only a single centisecond behind. Other notable performances from the Alpi Western Committee included Vittoria Lerda of the Sestriere Ski Club, who finished thirteenth, and Anita Ochrymowicz of the Sauze d’Oulx ski club, who placed twenty-sixth. Giacomo fernando Rej,also from Sestriere,secured tenth place in the men’s race,while Pietro Casartelli,representing Turin and Sestriere,finished seventeenth.

Rigamonti Competes in Pfelders-Plan di Moso Giant Slalom

In Pfelders-Plan di Moso, located in Passiria, Italy, the German Federation is hosting a series of FIS races. Leonardo Rigamonti, representing the Cesanese financiers, achieved seventh place in the giant slalom, finishing 0.62 seconds behind the winner, Federico Toscano of the Swiss Ski Club san Bernardino, who posted a total time of 1 minute, 46.79 seconds.
