The Ministry of Health and Social Protection provided details on Saturday following a birth recorded on board a Rabat tram train and which resulted in the death of the baby. The department indicated, in a clarification, that the management of the Moulay Abdallah hospital in Salé recorded “no passage” of a woman who gave birth on board a tram train in Rabat.
As soon as informed, the ministry immediately opened an investigation in order to elucidate the circumstances linked to this incident, indicates the department, adding that after checking reception registers, viewing recordings from surveillance cameras and collecting testimonies from security agents, “no passage of the person concerned was noted” by the hospital management nor by the medical team on duty.
Information collected on the ground reveals that the woman showed signs of labor while she was on board the tram in Rabat, where she suffered a serious hemorrhage requiring the immediate intervention of Civil Protection teams, the same source said.
Subsequently, she was transported to the Souissi maternity hospital, where she was examined, taken care of and placed under medical supervision, before finding that the newborn was in a state of fetal death, specifies the same source.
Furthermore, preliminary information shows that the patient had been suffering “from psychiatric disorders for some time”, notes the ministry, adding that she is “currently admitted” to Arrazi hospital to receive the necessary care. The ministry expressed its “deep regret” following this painful incident and sends its “sincere condolences” to the woman’s family, ensuring that it treats this type of case with “seriousness and transparency” and ensures that it provides reliable information to public opinion to avoid any confusion.
