Unfortunately, for those who were counting on shopping tomorrow, the news is not good. February 22 is a non-trading Sunday, which means most large stores will remain closed. The good news is that the traditionally open ones may include, among others: Żabka stores, small private stores run by owners and gas stations.

In practice, this means that most large stores, such as Biedronka, Lidl, Kaufland, Auchan and Carrefour, will remain closed today. Although many people would like to use the weekend to replenish their household supplies, shopping in supermarkets and shopping malls will not be possible on February 22.
Shopping on Sunday, February 22, 2026 will be possible only in small local stores, and among chain stores, mainly in Żabki, which can be opened thanks to the fact that they often operate as outlets run by franchisees. Therefore, it is worth planning larger purchases only for Monday, February 23, when all stores will be open.

It is worth remembering that the Sunday Trading Ban Act provides for several exceptions. This means that on February 22, 2026, some establishments may operate legally, such as:
- pharmacies,
- gas stations,
- bakeries and confectioneries,
- shops run by owners or their families,
- shopping outlets at stations and airports.
Restaurants, cafes, bars, flower shops and selected shops in tourist areas may also be open on Sunday, February 22, 2026. However, it is worth checking the current opening hours before leaving, because not every franchise store or local point will be open on Sunday.

We will have to wait a while for the next trading Sunday. The next date when the trade ban will not apply is March 29, 2026. This year, Sunday trading will be allowed eight times. These are dates related to seasonal increases in store traffic, including the pre-Christmas and holiday periods. Trading Sundays in 2026 fall on:

- December 20.

Shopping Sundays in 2026. What next with the Sunday trading ban?
In 2024, the Parliament failed to adopt an amendment to the law regulating the ban on Sunday trading. Also in 2025, the topic did not return to the parliamentary agenda. As a result, the current system is maintained, according to which trading is allowed only on eight Sundays a year.
The only significant modification is the establishment of a day off on Christmas Eve and the extension of the catalog of shopping Sundays to include the third Sunday in December. This solution is intended to make pre-Christmas shopping easier for people preparing for Christmas, especially those who postpone it until the last minute.
Other proposals for changes, such as partial lifting of the trade ban, shortening opening hours or introducing additional exceptions, are still awaiting consideration in parliamentary committees. This means that in 2026 the same rules will apply as before, a shopping in large stores and shopping malls will be possible only on designated eight shopping Sundays.
