Toyota called yesterday, Tuesday (21), for the return of workers from the Sorocaba and Indaiatuba (SP) factories to make the necessary preparations for resuming production activities on November 3rd. THE Automotive World for PCD contacted the manufacturer and officially confirmed the informationwhich mark the beginning of the gradual recovery after the period of shutdown.

In this first stage, Toyota do Brasil will concentrate its efforts on the production of hybrid versions of the Corolla and Corolla Cross. These models serve both the domestic market and exports. To achieve this, the necessary engines and components will come from brand units located abroad.

The Sorocaba plant is responsible for assembling the Corolla Sedan, Corolla Cross and Yaris destined for export, in addition to preparing for the future Yaris Cross. The Indaiatuba factory will continue to exclusively produce the Corolla Sedan.

According to Toyota, the full resumption of activities, including models with conventional combustion-only engines, is scheduled for January 2026. This phase will include vehicles destined for both the national market and exports.

Meanwhile, the long-awaited Yaris Cross still has no set date. The brand informed that the launch date will be announced soon. The model should expand Toyota’s presence in the compact SUV segment and reinforce its product line in Brazil.

With the announcement of the resumption, the layoff agreement that would come into force yesterday (21) at the Sorocaba and Indaiatuba factories was suspended. However, the Porto Feliz unit still has no plans to reopen, as it suffered severe damage due to the sellable material that hit the unit. For this reason, the temporary suspension of employment contracts will only apply to employees at that plant.
