Iona Gaels

Though Iona has yet to secure their first win of the season, going 0-4 at the 2025 Red and Black Classic, the Gaels are far from out of contention. Seeded sixth in the MAAC preseason poll after an impressive fifth-place finish in the regular season last year, Iona is a team that can competitive. Junior Brooke Acker has been the standout, posting a 1.240 OPS and playing a vital role in the team’s extra-base hits.

The Season in a Flash

Since the start of the 2025 season, Towson faced its challenges immediately. At Wofford University’s Terrier Invite, they accumulated a 2-3 record. Madyson Peters made a strong start, hitting 6-12 and delivering a game-winning home run against Youngstown State. Her teammate Kristin Toland added power to the lineup with a 5-12 performance including a double, triple, and home run. Freshman standout Kayla Pilson also got her collegiate debut off to a flying start, tossing four scoreless innings and earning a win in relief.

The action shifted to the Battle at the Beach, where Towson’s record dipped to 2-6 after losses to Kent State, Notre Dame, and Marist. Toland continued her torrid hitting, tying the CAA lead for home runs with three over two weeks. Taylor Broadbent and Briyana Wright also found the fences, while Mackenzie Gorczyca contributed an RBI triple for her first collegiate run battled.
