Seriously injured by bullets on Saturday morning in Toulouse, a 30-year-old man is still fighting for his survival after an attack carried out from a fleeing vehicle. While his vital prognosis remains compromised, investigators are exploring the possibility of a possible settling of scores linked to nitrous oxide trafficking in the Bordelongue district.

“The shooters were merciless. They riddled him with bullets, this attack is abominable. Maamar did nothing to deserve this”, believes the family of this thirty-year-old, represented by Me Pierre Lebonjour. His client, victim of an attempted murder Saturday morning in the Bordelongue sector, is still fighting to survive. Placed in an artificial coma after surgery, the 30-year-old man was injured in the liver, kidney and thorax. His vital prognosis is engaged this Sunday.

While he was walking on rue des Martyrs, in Toulouse, a black Renault Clio approached him without attracting attention. Maamar sensed danger, but when he tried to flee, it was already too late. The Toulouse man was literally riddled with bullets. The shooter(s) opened fire from the passenger seat of the vehicle, without ever getting out. After the shooting, the car disappeared into the night. In the aftermath of this firearm attack, perpetrated with a small caliber, many questions remain.

Nitrous oxide trafficking?

This 30-year-old man is not unknown to the justice services. He has already been involved in several drug trafficking cases, where he played a minor role. In recent months, however, Maamar has distanced himself from drugs. According to several residents, the city in which he resides has recently experienced a notable drop in traffic-related activities. The police reportedly arrested drug dealers there. “We no longer have any points of sale here,” admits a local resident. Another resident, interviewed on Saturday morning, was more nuanced, evoking the regular presence of a team selling laughing gas at the foot of 9 rue des Martyrs. The possibility of a conflict linked to nitrous oxide trafficking is currently being examined by investigators from the Toulouse organized and specialized crime division. Other hypotheses are also studied in parallel.

The priority remains the identification of suspects. The investigations, particularly based on the use of video surveillance images from the Pink City, promise to be long and complex. If the victim survives, he or she could provide key elements to advance the investigation. In the meantime, several of his relatives are currently being questioned by the national police.
