The legal saga surrounding Tory Lanez has taken another dramatic turn. Just as discussions about a potential retrial were circulating, an inmate has stepped forward, claiming responsibility for the recent stabbing of the Toronto rapper while incarcerated at the California correctional Center.

Santino Casio, already serving a life sentence, told TMZ that he stabbed Lanez 14 times on May 12, claiming he heard rumors of a “bounty on his head.” Footage of the attack has reportedly been leaked.

Casio, who occupied a neighboring cell, alleges he overheard other inmates discussing a bounty on Tory’s life. He claims that after a verbal altercation, he felt threatened by a suspicious bulge in Lanez’s pocket.

“What he showed me, to me, looked like a weapon at the time,” Casio reflected. “So I rushed him, and I just snatched him…I took advantage of him. I threw him all over. I kept slamming him and stabbing him.”

Casio maintains he didn’t intend to kill Tory,asserting he acted in self-defense after allegedly being stabbed in the leg. He stated the incident was unexpected, as he and Lanez previously had a cordial relationship.

“Yea, we were cool,” Casio said. “We were chill. We ate, we drank, we partied, we kicked it! Yeah, we were good.”

Despite this, Casio expresses no remorse and offers no apology. Lanez suffered multiple injuries, including seven stab wounds to the back, four to the torso, two to the back of the head, and one across the face, resulting in collapsed lungs.

Tory Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was convicted in 2022 for shooting megan Thee Stallion in july 2020 and is currently serving a 10-year sentence.

Despite claims of new evidence, the possibility of overturning Tory’s conviction remains uncertain.
