Corpus Christi 2025 Proclamation Kicks Off Toledo Celebrations

The city of toledo has commenced its Corpus Christi festivities with a proclamation by journalist Antonio González Jerez, held in the Covarrubias patio. The event marks the beginning of a week filled with cultural and religious significance.

The ceremony took place in the Covarrubias patio of San Pedro Mártir,setting the stage for the Corpus Christi 2025 celebrations. Carlos Velázquez expressed his gratitude to the University of Castilla-La Mancha for providing the venue for the proclamation. He also thanked those who contribute to making “Toledo… the most lovely city in the world” during this week.

The mayor extended his gratitude to the Pro Corpus Board, the Azucaica Teje Association, the Power Family, and the Toledo Patios Association, which will open 43 spaces this year, including gardens and botanical areas, hosting over 40 activities.

Velázquez lauded Antonio González Jerez for his insightful proclamation, stating, “because you can tell the same, that the corpus is not better, than you have done,” and acknowledged his years of dedication to Toledo, praising his “veracity, professionalism and obligation.”

The event featured a performance by Ad Libitum, and the City Council of Toledo timbaleros were honored with the Tarasca de Honour.
