They Murdered A Former Beauty Queen Linked To…

Just hours before being murdered, Landy Párraga, a former beauty queen, had attended a friend’s wedding party. Her Instagram stories show her smiling next to her boyfriend, enjoying the reception. Less than 24 hours after that last happy night, in a restaurant in Quevedo, a city on the Ecuadorian coast, Párraga was murdered by two hitmen, who shot her repeatedly in front of her boyfriend.

Párraga, 23 years old, was a model and was vicereine of Quevedo. She also, in 2022, participated as a candidate for Miss Ecuador. However, her name has not only been linked to beauty contests but also appears in the conversations of the also murdered drug trafficker Leandro Norero.

The name of the model appears in the communications of July 13, 2022 between Norero and Helive Angulo, alias Estimado, a trusted man of the drug trafficker and now prosecuted in the Metastasis case. In that dialogue, Norero and Angulo discussed the money laundering case that the Prosecutor’s Office was pursuing against the boss. Angulo, who had police officers infiltrated into the investigative team, told Norero that the Public Ministry ordered an investigation into an importing company owned by Párraga. Norero then explained that the importer did not belong to the model but to “a man of the hand” named César.

Unforgettable Mariella

Mariella Agois, one of our greatest artists, has an essential anthology at MALI. (Photo: Hans Stoll)

Mariella Agois died this Sunday, January 21, coinciding with an impressive anthology at the MALI that covers 30 paintings made in the last 15 years. Her name is essential in our art history because she was one of the few – whatever her gender – who can be considered a teacher in Peru. This text was written before her departure and has been adapted to this new reality.

When I met Mariella Agois in the early 80s, she was – and continued to be – a prominent photographer and co-founder of the Secuencia photo gallery. From the beginning she seduced me with a work of solid conceptual investigations based on popular space. It was the Chorrillos #1 series on silver gelatin paper made between 1978-1980. I was also surprised by her ability to bring together the most prominent photographers of the time, so in 1984 I organized the ConSecuencia exhibition as a kind of tribute to all of them.

Risk Of Wet Feet And Failed Harvest Due…

#Risk #wet #feet #failed #harvest #due #expansion #gas #extraction #border #region #authorities #appeal

The damage to the land in the provinces of Drenthe, Friesland and Overijssel will be irreparable if gas extraction in the small fields on the border is further expanded. This is stated by local authorities, including Wetterskip Fryslân.

The water board is going to the Council of State for the first time. The municipality of Westerveld, Weststellingwerf and the province of Friesland are also joining. The aim is to reverse the minister’s decision to extract more gas.

In the border region of Drenthe, Friesland and Overijssel, the Canadian company Vemilion is drilling for gas in several places. Gas extraction in the fields around Diever, Vinkega, De Blesse-Blesdijke, Sonnega, Nijensleek, Eesveen, Noordwolde and Weststellingwerf can together lead to a several centimeter subsidence. This is done in the shape of a bowl: more in one place than in the other.

With every application for the extraction of gas, it must be mapped out in advance how the soil can subside as much as possible and what the consequences are for,
