However, rumors about Kapadze being a potential coach for the Garuda squad continue to grow. Not only in Indonesia, but also in Uzbekistan.
“Former Uzbekistan national team coach Timur Kapadze is almost appointed head coach of the Indonesian national team. According to sources, the specialist is already in Indonesia, where he is conducting final negotiations with the football federation,” wrote UZ Daily.
When interviewed by media in Indonesia, Kapadze explained that his arrival in Jakarta was to fulfill an invitation regarding tourism.
“So there are no official plans for interviews regarding coaching the Indonesian National Team,” said Kapadze to a series of journalists, including CNNIndonesia.
At the same time, Kapadze also admitted that he had been contacted by PSSI about the Indonesian national team coach.
“So there has been contact from the federation [PSSI]I spoke with Sumardji, but nothing concrete. The only question is ‘is there a desire [melatih Timnas Indonesia]?’. I said I already had a visit planned [ke Indonesia]maybe after that it can be discussed,” said Kapadze.
The man who played 119 times for the Uzbekistan national team stated that he did not close the door to the possibility of coaching any team after no longer being the coach of the Uzbekistan national team.
“Basically I will study all the offers that come in. I am open to offers,” he said.
