Recent reports indicated that Glas was rushed from La Roca to a nearby naval hospital due to a suspected drug overdose, although the exact circumstances remain unclear.
His lawyer, Andrés Villegas Pico, revealed that Glas was found unresponsive in his cell and had refused food, leading to speculation that he may have intentionally overdosed on medication.
Despite conflicting accounts, Ecuador’s prison authorities stated that Glas’s condition was stable after being taken to the hospital for observation following a 24-hour food strike.
