A new theatrical production, “Armed theory,” explores themes of memory, connection, and reconstruction through the story of a professional puzzle-maker.
“Armed theory,” a collaboration between director Mailín Sylvester and protagonist Gabriela Palumbo, is showing Saturdays in june at 9 PM in Teatro La Morada (San Martín 771, upper floor). The play invites audiences to delve into a fragmented world of memories and possible reconstructions.
sylvester explains the collaborative dramaturgy: “we wanted to talk about the links and we had an object that interested us very Of all these fragments this work was armed.”
The play centers on Adel, a former professional puzzle maker. armed theory follows her journey as she is invited to give a conference, forcing her to confront past stages of her life and navigate a complex emotional landscape.
The production promises an immersive experience, foregoing a linear narrative in favor of a scenic collage that encourages the audience to create thier own meaning. The puzzle metaphor is used both visually and symbolically to explore themes of connection, social expectations, family roles, and the challenges and necessities of self-reconstruction.
The script, born from the creators’ shared memories and inspirations, translates into a fragmented poetic expressed through body, space, and theatrical language. The play reveals not only Adel’s story but also the creative group’s internal processes, addressing tensions related to female identity, family ties, and societal expectations.
sylvester’s direction blends performance, visual design, movement, and text. Palumbo, drawing on her extensive acting background, portrays Adel as intense, fragile, and insightful, offering the audience pieces of her world to assemble.
