The Pressure cooker: Coaches Finalize Their Teams
The ninth and final evening of blind auditions on “The Voice” saw intense competition as artists vied for the last remaining spots on the coaches’ teams. With Vianney and Patricia Kaas already at capacity, and Zaz and Florent Pagny nearing their limits, contestants had to deliver exceptional performances to secure a coveted place.
Triumphs and Tribulations: A Night of High Stakes
Eÿs Stuns the Judges
Among the standout performances, Eÿs, a 24-year-old artist from the south of France, captivated the audience and judges alike with her rendition of Sting and Cheb Mami’s “Desert Rose.” Florent Pagny and Zaz were so impressed that they both turned their chairs. Zaz praised Eÿs’s vocal control and stage presence, stating, Your vocalizations are extraordinary, you have taken power.
Visibly moved by the judges’ reactions, Eÿs almost knelt, overwhelmed with emotion. Zaz acknowledged this moment, saying, You took care of yourself at that time, well done for that, it was very lovely to see.
Ultimately, Eÿs chose to join Florent pagny’s team, fulfilling her desire to make her family proud.
Second Chances and missed Opportunities
Julie, given a rare second chance by Patricia kaas, seized the opportunity by performing Diane Tell’s “Si j’étais un homme.” This time, her performance resonated with the judges, earning her chair turns from both Florent Pagny and Patricia Kaas. Julie ultimately decided to continue her journey with Patricia Kaas.
However, not all contestants found success. Star (Céleste), 23, performing Mireille Mathieu’s “a love story”, was deemed too academic and lacking in emotional release. Walid’s tribute to his deceased mother with a revisited version of Christophe Maé’s “It hurts” also failed to sway the jury, even though they acknowledged his heartfelt approach. Vianney offered words of encouragement, stating, Whether it goes or it breaks, you have won something.
Unique Voices Find Their Place
Sébastien, a passionate teacher, secured a spot on Florent Pagny’s team with his tenor rendition of “Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables.Boï, an artist from Camargue who spent his life traveling the world in a horse-drawn trailer, moved Zaz with his Gypsy song. Zaz, deeply touched, remarked, This cry of the soul is all that lights me up, I could not turn around,
welcoming Boï as her fifteenth talent.
Rick, a Quebec native who had been trying to participate in the show for four years, finally won over Zaz, Florent Pagny, and Patricia Kaas with his rendition of Benson boone’s “Cry.” He chose to join Zaz’s team, who playfully compared him to a Tasmanian devil. Kylia, a Swiss secretary-receptionist, brought high energy to her performance of Kiss’s “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” earning turns from Florent Pagny and Zaz. Despite some minor imperfections, Kylia’s carefree attitude impressed Zaz, and she joined Florent Pagny’s team.
The Final Selections
Francisco,a street artist from southern Italy, captivated Patricia Kaas with his performance of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here,” securing the final spot on her team. However, Stéphany Sings’s rendition of Donna Summer’s “Last Dance” failed to impress the coaches, with Vianney finding it too fragile for the competitive surroundings of “The Voice.”
What’s Next: The Groups Stage
With the blind auditions concluded, the teams of Zaz, Florent Pagny, Vianney, and Patricia Kaas are now complete. The contestants will face each other in a new stage called “the groups,” a preliminary round before the battles. After the battles, only six talents will remain on each team, intensifying the competition as they vie for the title of “The Voice.”
