June’s Morning Brings Alarming Findings
Our photographer captured significant grey smoke steadily billowing out of the Park and Ride ballot box at Fisher’s Landing Transit Center near Southeast 162nd Avenue just after 6 a.m. Multiple police units were in attendance, cordoning off the area with tape as the smoke continued to emit.
Responding to a Fierce Fire
Clark County authorities conveyed that the last ballot pickup at that location occurred at 8 a.m. Sunday. Consequently, hundreds of ballots were inside at the time of the burning, with only a small number potentially retrievable.
Call to Action for Voters:
Voters who had dropped off ballots at the location after 8 a.m. on Sunday need to contact the Auditor’s Office IMMEDIATELY for a new vote-by-mail ballot.
Portland’s Ballot Box Arson
Just hours before, Portland police responded to an arson at a SE Portland ballot box. An incendiary device was set off within the box, sparking a fire. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished, and the device was securely removed.
The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) is currently investigating the incident as an act of arson. No further details have been officially released on these ongoing investigations.
