Ukraine acknowledged Monday that the situation is “tense” on the eastern front as the Russian army increasingly pushes to take control of the city of Chasiv Yar, which Ukrainian forces are trying to defend.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Umarov announced that he had conducted an inspection visit to soldiers in the region where battles are currently taking place.
He said, “On this eastern front, where “the situation is tense,” the “outnumbered” Russian forces are trying to achieve a breakthrough into “West Bakhmut,” the city that the Russians took control of in May 2023 after a fierce battle.
Ukrainian Chief of Staff Oleksandr Sersky had previously announced that the forces defending the city of Chasiv Yar on the Eastern Front had received additional weapons to help them confront the advance of the Russian army.
Sirsky wrote on Facebook that “measures have been taken to provide the battalions with significantly more ammunition, drones, and electronic warfare equipment,” revealing that he toured the units concerned.
Chasiv Yar is located on a hill less than thirty kilometers southeast of Kramatorsk, the main city in the Ukrainian-controlled region and an important railway and logistics station for the Ukrainian army.

Why Does Russia Possess Dangerous Tactical Ballistic Missiles?
The 1.5-ton explosive warhead has strong destructive power, creating a destruction zone up to 500m in diameter and applying liquid fuel technology helps shorten deployment and recovery time to only 15 minutes. The R-2 missile has been officially equipped since 1951. The appearance of the R-2 caused the US and NATO to urgently develop countermeasures weapons, as well as reconsider the redeployment of forces on the territory. Europe to minimize the threat posed by Soviet missiles.
Continuously after that, the Soviet Union launched new lines of tactical ballistic missiles to force NATO to catch up. In 1955, the Soviet Union launched the R-11 missile with improvements in the fuel system to help the missile maintain combat readiness longer and, moreover, have the ability to carry nuclear warheads (version version R-11M).
At that time, maintaining the stability of liquid fuel for rockets was a very difficult and dangerous job. Although NATO has developed a number of solid-fueled missiles, limitations in warhead mass and range prevent them from being considered worthy opponents of the R-11.
The R-17 ballistic missile line, also known by its other name Scud, began to be deployed in 1962. This tactical missile complex appeared widely not only in the Soviet Army.

The exhibition “Sacred Spaces – New Concepts” has been running in the Haus am Dom from this week until 17 May. In particular, it is about turning churches, parsonages and community centers into communal and even more charitable-pastoral purposes, for example for communal living – a subject that promises relief, especially in Frankfurt’s tight housing market. The exhibition was organized by the Frankfurt Network for Community Life with the Catholic City Church and the Rabanus Maurus Catholic Academy. Tómas Wagner, director of studies at the Catholic Academy, and Birgit Kasper, managing director of the Frankfurt network, explain in an interview what it is about – and why changes will only happen slowly.
The exhibition presents examples of good practice in which church buildings have been successfully converted into communal accommodation. It is obvious that there is only one project from Frankfurt – although there are many possibilities here. Are we that slow in the city?
Thomas Wagner: No, we are not slow, but good things take time, especially with churches. Eight years ago we launched the “Church Buildings Strategy”, or KIS for short, project at the diocesan level.

V. Putin Again Distorts The Historical Truth, This…
Speaking to a “young man from Belgium” during the so-called World Youth Festival, the Russian president once again demonstrated a rather strange interpretation of historical events.
V. Putin spoke: “Belgium as an independent state appeared on the world map largely thanks to Russia and its position. But that doesn’t matter today.”

Speaking about Russia in a historical context, V. Putin meant the Russian Empire.
But the then emperor Nicholas I foreign policy basically did not mean support for revolutions and national liberation movements.
On the contrary, its main principle was to strengthen Holy union, created after the defeat of Napoleon I in 1815. And the purpose of the Holy Union was to protect the rights of legitimate monarchs throughout Europe.
As a result, it would be very strange if a leading proponent of the principle of monarchical legitimacy suddenly supported the rebellion in the southern Netherlands that led to the creation of an independent Belgium.
