One of the most famous news last week was the Polish Games Polish company starting to investigate the similarities of the hit Schedule and to the native series the second Simulator dealer.
The case got loud especially in the West, but at the same time the picture of the situation was strongly distorted there due to the erroneous translation of the publisher’s message (which was in Polish). As a result, players carried out Review bombing some of his steam games. Movie Games has now made a statement to explain the whole situation.
- No lawsuit was directed.
- The goal of Movie Games is not to prevent TVGS Sales Studio Schedule I or the development of this game.
- An investigation of similarities between games is being conducted, because the initial legal analysis showed that there could have been a violation of Movie Games.
- Analysis and investigation were necessary in the light of repetitive opinions that the games are very similar. Without examining this issue, Movie Games, as a listed company, could suffer serious consequences by neglect.
- The original information was provided via ESPI, a stock market communication system in which Movie Games, as a company listed on the stock exchange, is obliged to publish such messages to ensure full transparency. It would not be negligence. It was from this message that the media took information and, in many cases in the West, mistakenly reported that the company had already filed a lawsuit.
- The investigation is run by Movie Games, i.e. the publisher of the series Drug Dealer Simulator. There is nothing to do with him, Byteterunners studio that has developed this cycle.
At the same time, Michał Puczyński, who is responsible for marketing in Movie Games, stated that the company has not contacted the creators for now Schedule I in this matter. However, before the premiere of this game, the Polish company sent the TVGS studio greetings and wished the developer success. The latter confirmed the main creator of the game in an interview with the PC Gamer editors, stating that people from Movie Games also shared their impressions from the demo Schedule I. This is where the contact between the two sides ended.
