/ The Iraqi Olympic team defeated its Egyptian counterpart 1-0 on Saturday evening, in a trial match hosted by the UAE Football Association Stadium in Dubai in preparation for the AFC U-23 Championship.
The first half ended in a goalless draw, and the result remained the same in the second half until the last minute of the match, when the goal for the Iraqi team came in the 90th minute, scored by the player Halo Faiq.
The draw for the AFC U-23 Cup placed Iraq in the third group, alongside Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Tajikistan. The championship competitions will start in April next year in Qatar.
The Iraqi Olympic team defeated FC Akron, one of the first-class clubs in the Russian league, by two goals to no return in the training match that took place between them last Wednesday in Dubai, which is part of the curriculum of the ongoing training camp in the United Arab Emirates.

Cherthala: Construction of a stadium with an acrylic roof and pitch has started at Vayalar PRC near the sports ground. 45 lakh allocated from the regional development plan of former Union Minister Vyalarravi and 25 lakh allocated by the State Sports Organization were used for the construction work.
An overhead stadium and an acrylic court are being built with a length of 30 meters and a width of 20 meters for volleyball and other indoor competitions. Club officials said the gallery, office and other related facilities will be built later.
Officials began construction by hammering in the pegs. Club president AK Ajayakumar, secretary Vayalar Ravi, VN Ajayan, officials UG Unni, VA Naushad, PS Muralidharan, PG Suresh Babu, Wardangam Jayalekha and others participated.
