The Burgas Court of Appeal confirmed the verdict of the District Court – Burgas, by which the defendant Stanimir Ragevski was sentenced to “life imprisonment without parole” for the murders of Teodora Bahlova and Yumer Mehmed, committed in 2020 and 2021.
The case before the Court of Appeal – Burgas was initiated on the appeal of the defense of the defendant. The request is for the annulment of the sentence and for a new one, by which the defendant will be found not guilty of the charges brought against him.
The opinion of the state prosecution is that the act of the first instance is lawful, justified and fair and should be confirmed. The private prosecutors are also urging the Court of Appeal to uphold the sentence.

In the decision issued by the Court of Appeals – Burgas, within more than 130 pages, the three-member appellate panel made a thorough analysis of all the facts and circumstances related to the committed crimes. The court dismissed the appeal as unfounded and upheld the district court’s verdict in its entirety.
The defendant was found guilty by both courts of intentionally killing the real estate broker on October 29, 2020 in Burgas by using a firearm – a “Makarov” pistol with an obliterated factory number, for which he was sentenced to “imprisonment” for a term of 20 years.
He was also found guilty of intentionally killing Yumer Mehmed on August 4, 2021 in Burgas. It was premeditated and after the defendant had committed another intentional murder – that of Teodora Bakhlova, for which no sentence was passed, which is why he was sentenced to life imprisonment without the right to parole.
