The Andalusian Telecare Service (SAT), managed by the Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality through the Agency of Social Services and Dependency of Andalusia, has begun its collaboration with the vaccination campaign against flu and covid managed by the Ministry of Health. This action consists of making prevention information calls to users of the Telecare Service, as well as managing the appointment for the vaccine, if the person requests it.
This is a campaign that is repeated every year with the aim of informing about preventive measures or hygiene habits that can help protect against both seasonal flu and Covid-19.
Thus, when the user requests it, the SAT will be in charge of carrying out the procedures to request an appointment for the vaccine, so that, with the push of a button, older people and people in a situation of dependency can obtain their appointment, which will be assigned according to the planning and criteria established by the Ministry of Health, since the vaccination will be carried out in a staggered manner, starting with the most vulnerable people.
The calls made from telecare in relation to the vaccination campaign are fundamentally aimed at protecting people who are at greater risk of presenting complications if they suffer from this disease, such as the elderly. The majority population of the Andalusian Telecare Service is over 80 years old (71%), of which eight out of ten are women. Furthermore, 70% of users live alone at home.
This collaboration with Health highlights that the Andalusian Telecare Service is not only a key to access care, company, listening or to sound the alarm in any risk situation, but it is also a great tool for prevention and vaccination campaigns, thanks to the wide coverage that this service has among the elderly and dependent population of Andalusia.
The Telecare service of the Junta de Andalucía has almost 280,000 holders, including people over 65 years of age, people in a situation of dependency and people with disabilities, to whom it offers personalized and continuous attention 365 days a year, providing an immediate response to situations of loneliness and social isolation, emergency or insecurity.
Furthermore, this public service provides peace of mind and security to families, thus promoting work-life balance while also supporting people’s permanence in their environment.
