Catelynn Lowell Takes Aim at and Later Clarifies Comments About Carly’s Parents
Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra posted to social media this week to clarify their recent statements about their biological daughter Carly and her biological parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis. In an interview to promote the new season of ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter,’ Catelynn expressed that she would have preferred different parents for Carly, leading to significant backlash.
The controversy began with Catelynn and Tyler expressing dissatisfaction with Brandon and Teresa since last year. This stance resulted in the parents blocking the couple on social media and terminating contact with Carly. The parents also accused Catelynn and Tyler of being taken advantage of during their teen years when they chose to place Carly for adoption in 2009.
In a recent E! News interview, Catelynn acknowledged having regrets about selecting Brandon and Teresa as Carly’s parents. However, her clarification in an Instagram Story insisted they did not mean choosing different adoptive parents but rather themselves.
“I want to make something very clear,” Catelynn posted. “In the interviews I did recently, and said ‘I would pick different parents,’ I mean I would’ve picked us! I wish that I could have made a different choice and WE could be her parents!”
No matter Catelynn’s clarification, her explanation failed to align with her previous statements. She admitted she would still opt for adoption for Carly if given the chance, listing reasons why she wouldn’t choose Brandon and Teresa again.
“I definitely would have picked a couple in Michigan,” Catelynn said. “I would have picked a couple that wanted fully open adoption from the get-go. So, there’s things in my decision that I would have changed.”
Tyler echoed his wife’s stance, denying they were criticizing Carly’s parents and instead presenting their perspective on the adoption situation.
“If people are so uncomfortable with the facts regarding that truth, then they should re-evaluate the morality of that truth, instead of condemning & pointing fingers at the ones who just so happen to be delivering the truth,” he stated.
Just prior to their posts, Tyler released an unfiltered rant on TikTok Live, criticizing Brandon and Teresa for not advocating for Carly in the dispute between them.
“I’m a father of three, I would literally do anything,” Tyler said. “Whatever it is, I would never just not explain it, because [by] you not explaining it or communicating it, you’re not advocating for her … .”
Tyler alleged that Brandon and Teresa have the reason for their disconnection with Carly, which they allegedly shared with adoption counselor Dawn, but refuse to communicate with Catelynn and Tyler.
Kevin contended that Brandon and Teresa previously agreed to an open adoption arrangement with them, stating, “I think to myself, man, if I was in their position and watched the devastation on these two kids and what’s going on, I couldn’t have done it, or at least [I would have at least] gotten down on their level and said, ‘Listen, you don’t have to do this, you can still change your mind,’– anything!”

Jenelle Evans Confronts Stepdaughter Maryssa, Threatens David Eason
Jenelle Evans fell victim to public shaming thanks to her estranged husband David Eason’s daughter, Maryssa Eason, and his current girlfriend, Kenleigh Heatwole. Maryssa took to TikTok to mock Jenelle, while Kenleigh reposted the comment, prompting Jenelle to threaten legal action against David again.
In her TikTok post, Maryssa sarcastically thanked Jenelle, referencing their fraught history.
“‘You’re so funny,’” Maryssa wrote. “Thank you, I grew up on ‘the land’ with that one chick if [ya know, ya know].”
Kenleigh’s repost was the final straw, prompting Jenelle to tweet a warning to David about potential third-party harassment charges.
“I mean if you want to catch another violation charge for 3rd party harassment be my guest David,” Jenelle tweeted, then swiftly deleted the message on X.
This tweet implied that Jenelle blamed David for using his girlfriend and daughter to harass her online, potentially violating the restraining order she has against him.
Earlier this month, Jenelle had also threatened Kenleigh on TikTok Live if she didn’t stop posting what she perceived as shady content about Jenelle.
“If she wants to keep pissin’ me off and keep postin’ subliminal shady posts about me, she can keep goin’ because I will press charges if she doesn’t stop,” Jenelle declared.
As of the last update, no legal action had been taken against David or Kenleigh regarding Maryssa’s and Kenleigh’s recent posts.
