Taraji P. Henson, who gave a searing performance in Perry’s film Straw earlier this year, is joining one of his long-running franchises, the Why Did I Get Married? world.
The Academy Award-nominated actress is joining the cast of Why Did I Get Married Again?the third installment of the film series. The film will feature her alongside original cast members, including Tasha Smith, Sharon Leal, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker and Jill Scott.
According to a logline released on Varietyin this latest installment, “the couples reunite in celebration as Marcus (White) and Angela’s (Smith) daughter prepares to tie the knot. After being apart for quite some time, they learn quickly that as much as things change, they stay the same. Realizing their children have grown up to be so much like them, they must reflect on the examples they’ve set and ask themselves that age-old question, why did they get married… again?”
Perry, who is returning to his role in the series, also wrote, produced and is directing the film.
