On Sunday, the US Central Command (Centcom) announced the destruction of 15 ISIS sites in southern Syria, in cooperation with forces affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Interior.

She added, in a statement, that American soldiers from the Joint Task Force in Operation Inherent Resolve worked with the Syrian forces to “locate and eliminate ISIS weapons stores in the Damascus countryside governorate, through multiple air strikes and ground bombings.”

She continued, “The operation destroyed more than 130 mortar shells, missiles, multiple assault rifles, machine guns, anti-tank mines, and materials for making explosive devices.”

Commander of US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, said: “This successful operation ensures the continuation of the gains achieved against ISIS, and prevents the organization from renewing its activity or launching terrorist attacks on the United States and around the world.”

He added: “We will remain vigilant and will continue to fiercely pursue the remnants of ISIS in Syria,” as he put it.

Continuous operations

On November 13, US Central Command announced that its forces, in cooperation with its partners in Syria, carried out more than 22 operations against ISIS during the period from October 1 to November 6, resulting in the killing of five members of the organization and the arrest of 19 others.

Cooper stressed that these operations represent an important achievement in confronting the ISIS threat, stressing the continuation of efforts to ensure that the organization’s ranks are not rebuilt or terrorist attacks are exported to other countries.

In early November, Syria joined the international coalition against ISIS, which was formed under the leadership of the United States in 2014, becoming the 90th partner.
