Slovenian Retailer’s Road Trip for Switch 2 Consoles
In the world of self-reliant business, securing sought-after products sometimes requires extraordinary measures. This was the case for a video game store owner in Slovenia who went on a long journey to stock the Switch 2.
According to a report by VGC, the owner of Gaming Konzolko, a retail store in Liubliana, Slovenia, undertook an odyssey to acquire the Nintendo switch 2 for its premiere.
Faced with a lack of official distribution channels in Slovenia and unsatisfactory distribution options, the retailer opted to order dozens of units from a wholesaler in Italy.
The retailer drove for over 20 hours across Europe to pick up the order. They initially shared on a forum that they intended to fit as many Switch 2 consoles as possible into their car, estimating a capacity of over 300 units.
During the journey, the retailer kept followers updated and admitted to concerns about potential theft, given the valuable cargo. despite these worries, the mission was successful, and the consoles were promptly placed on the store’s shelves upon arrival.the retailer anticipates having enough units to meet the demand from interested customers.

Early Adopters Await Day One Update
Due to varying global distribution timelines, some retailers and consumers have already received the Switch 2. However, those who received the console before its official launch on june 5 have been unable to play it.
Nintendo anticipated this situation and designed the initial units to require a Day 1 update for functionality. As an inevitable result, even with the console in hand, users cannot complete the online validation process necessary to play games, whether for Switch 2 or the original Switch.
Regarding the Slovenian retailer, there were requests from users to unbox and demonstrate the console. However, the retailer stated that, in the absence of explicit authorization from Nintendo or wholesalers, they preferred not to take any risks.
The retailer also noted that each console has a serial number, and Nintendo is closely monitoring the use of the Switch 2 worldwide. Recent changes to user terms allow Nintendo to block or permanently ban consoles detected engaging in unauthorized use.
