Briar Schwaller-Hürlimann and Yannick Schwaller first lost to the US duo Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin 4:7 before gaining the upper hand against the South Korean duo 8:5.
After the opening win on Wednesday after the additional end against Estonia, the Swiss duo went ahead 2-1 in the second end against the Americans. In the third, fourth and sixth, however, Team USA managed a two-man house, so that things soon became clear in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Just a few hours later, the couple were able to rehabilitate themselves and achieve their second win in the third game. However, South Korea, still without a win, demanded a lot from the Swiss duo. In the sixth end, the Asians got within one point thanks to a two-man game. Since Schwaller/Hürlimann were able to score points with two stones, the victory remained safe. On Friday the Swiss duo continues their game against hosts Italy in the morning.
The mixed doubles is on the Winter Games program for the third time. Jenny Perret and Martin Rios represented Switzerland at the first two events. The duo won silver at the premiere in 2018, and four years ago they took 7th place.
