Iga Świątek begins this year’s Wimbledon with a match against Polina Kudermietowa. It will be the first clash of a Polish woman with a 22-year-old, classified in the 64th place in the WTA ranking. The Russian will play for the first time in the main ladder of the Grand Slam tournament on the All England Club courts.
The fourth player on world lists returns to the grassy surface after a successful performance in German Bad Homburg, where she reached the finals in which she lost in two sets with Jessica Pegul.

– The grass in Bad Homburg was extremely free, at times the ball was bounced more slowly than on the brick, which was interesting. However, I think that today’s tennis allows you to play effectively from behind the end line – said the Polish woman in an interview with Tomasz Lorek from Polsat Sport.
For a player from Raszyn it will be the sixth senior performance at the All England Club courts. Her best achievement remains the quarter -finals in 2023.
Kudermietowa, in turn, appeared on the court in ‘S -Hertogenbosch, where on June 9 she lost in two parts with her sister – Weronika. The Russian woman won only one of the last nine meetings.
