Scientists from the University of Kiel (Germany) and the University of Alabama in Huntsville (USA) decided to test whether a strong word helps to gather strength.

The results of the study were published by the American Psychological Association, reports the Doctor Peter Telegram channel.

Swearing actually improves stamina, concentration and a feeling of confidence.

An experiment was conducted in which 182 healthy volunteers participated. The task was set to keep the body suspended as long as possible, leaning on the hands.

The subjects did two approaches. In the first case, they stood on their hands and uttered curse words every few seconds. The second contains neutral words.

It turned out that when swearing, the experiment participants showed much better results: they were more collected and lasted longer.

How the phenomenon was explained

A scientific basis for this pattern has been found. Swearing removes psychological “brakes”, removes internal censorship and makes it possible to completely focus on the task.

The authors of the study designated this “mode” as “act without doubt” or a state of disinhibition.

“This is an affordable and healthy tool that improves our productivity,” explained one of the study authors, Dr Richard Stevens from Keele University.

According to scientists, obscene language can help athletes, patients during rehabilitation, and even women during childbirth.

In Belarus it is possible to get a fine for swearing

Supreme Court Judge Dmitry Uloga explained how swearing can lead to a fine.

Despite the popular belief that nothing happens because of swearing, statistics indicate the opposite.

In the first six months in Belarus, more than 4 thousand people were arrested for petty hooliganism. And half of the cases are associated with the use of obscene vocabulary.

Of course, in this case we are talking about strong expressions in public places, but there are also quite a few nuances here.

The main criterion for recognizing swearing as hooliganism is its intentionality.

That is, in the case when a bad word came out somewhere in a dark alley at night, this can hardly be classified as petty hooliganism.

However, the judge has the right to recognize the violation as insignificant and release the culprit from liability.

This is only possible if the swear words did not cause significant harm to others and did not meet with a negative reaction. And also if the consequences of what happened turned out to be minimal.
