REED. Win, draw, defeat – it was all there for the three teams from the district over the weekend. With the 2-1 win against Blau Weiß Linz, SV Oberbank Ried celebrated the 3-0 win in the city comparison between Ried and Linz and – including the cup game against Gurten – their fourth derby win in a row.
The man of the game was King-stone Mutandwa, who not only prepared Ante Bajic‘s 1-0 goal (49’), but also in the 90+7. Scored the winning goal with a ball from the back of the head in the minute.
The SVR defense, which was newly formed due to Havenaar’s suspension, did a very good job and hardly allowed the guests any chances.
The game began with a beautiful choreography across all four stands by the SVR fan club Glory Boys, which was celebrating its 20th anniversary. As the game continued, both fans continued to fire up Bengalos in the derby mood. Because the wind was unfavorable, the Rieders caused a ten-minute interruption after an hour – seconds before, Bajic had missed a 100 percent chance of making it 2-0 after a dream pass from Van Wyk – which noticeably interrupted the SVR’s flow of the game.
In the 71st minute, Linz equalized through Shon Weissmann. Despite a few blue and white pinpricks, the last ten to 15 minutes were again dominated by Rieder, who were able to celebrate a somewhat fortunate, but not undeserved, victory thanks to Mutandwa’s winning goal.
Regional League Middle
The regional league teams from the district completed the last round before the winter break, and they won’t continue until February 27th.
The Young Vikings in Lafnitz played a spectacular game. In the 4:7 defeat they led 1:0 and 2:1 (Abubakar, 6th; Zotz, 29th), then fell behind 2:7 before Pesu (79th) and Balabas (87th) made the result somewhat bearable. Halfway through the season, the Young Vikings are in 15th and second-to-last place.
Union Gurten played 1-1 in Weiz (goal scorer: Tobias Schott, 77th) and finished the autumn championship in fourth place; three points behind third-place Lask and ten behind league leaders Voitsberg.
