“It feels so unreal to be here. We are super thinny,” said Freek Rikkerink after the first song – Dreams in color – for which he first shared an emotional moment with partner Suzan Stortelder. People in the audience were also visibly moved. There was plenty of clapping for the couple. “I don’t have to explain to anyone how difficult this period is. We go because of the most difficult phase of our lives, but every day there is a little more sun. Every day is a bit nicer.”
Freek Rikkerink feels physically ‘very good’
Freek also said that he feels ‘physically very good’. “And In the mouth Feels very good in pregnancy. The little one is where we are getting all our hope and strength at the moment. In the past month we learned that only one thing counts: being in the now. We’re working on that. We let go of the future a little bit. “
The singer continues: “We don’t know what tomorrow, we don’t know, you don’t know either. We don’t want to sit at home and wait for it to go a little less. We want to pick up life, celebrate life and make something beautiful out of it every day. This is what we get from energy from it today.”
First performance Suzan and Freek since cancer diagnosis
The performance at the festival was the first performance since the duo announced that Freek is incurably ill. The singer has metastatic lung cancer. The artists stopped all their work, but later they announced that they would perform again at a number of festivals.
“You might find it crazy to see us here. I can imagine that, maybe it is also emotional. But know, from us it is tears of happiness and gratitude,” Freek closed his story.
