Support for caring relatives is expanded

by Archynetys News Desk

Almost 400 clients have so far used the offer of mobile family relief, as the country said on Thursday in a press conference. It was only in May that there was criticism: the families concerned must even search for suitable organizations that meet their needs. That is not easy in small, remote town.

Many vouchers have never been redeemed

So many vouchers that have been issued have not been redeemed at all, as a survey showed. “We interviewed all families who have moved into vouchers so far. And we have received a lot of direct feedback,” says the responsible state councilor Martina Rüscher (ÖVP).

One was also in exchange with the providers and the interest groups – such as the network “Parents and Inclusion”. “From this feedback, we once took out the most central and took a first step,” Rüscher continues. So there is now a brochure that signpers the various carriers and offers. The organization of the care or the requirement remains with the parents.

More support for caring relatives planned

Age limit of 18 years falls

What is new from autumn of this year is that the age limit of 18 years is. So far, families have no longer been able to submit applications for care by third parties after their child’s 18th birthday. The offer is now being extended to adults between the ages of 18 and 65, which have already used a daily -structuring performance of integration aid.

In addition, more vouchers per client should be financed from autumn. For people from care level 4, ten percent more relief hours will be available in the future. For Rüscher (ÖVP), the caring relatives are “a supporting pillar of our social system”. The further development of mobile family relief is a sign of appreciation.

Working group as a contact person

In the future, a working group should have a look at the topics of those affected – and advise politics. “Our impression is that parents already feel that we want an improvement for them,” says Angelika Ott. She is a spokeswoman for the ARGE Mobile family relief spokeswoman. Part of them are representatives of the facilities and families affected. The working group is intended to “become a permanent, reliable contact for politics,” adds spokeswoman Martina Natter.

Digitization of the vouchers should follow

The revision has not yet been completed. “We have not already solutions in all topics. We have now started. This is very gratifying that simply work on the topics and really see the problems,” emphasizes Natter. In the next step, the focus is on digitization: the vouchers are still available in paper form.

Greens: Public pressure had the government inflicted in

The Greens accuse the state government of having only given up after “massive public pressure” when expanding the offer of mobile family relief. Social spokeswoman Christine Bösch-Vetter said that the age limit of 18 years of age is an important improvement for families that have been at the limit for years. This “stage victory” is primarily “thanks to the pressure of affected families,” she emphasizes.

“With over 13,000 signatures, the lobby for families with disabilities made it clear that the people in Vorarlberg do not tolerate cuts on the back of families and children,” says Bösch-Vetter. She appeals to ÖVP and FPÖ to rethink at schools in support.

90 percent of the childcare costs are covered

The mobile family relief in the country has been around for around 20 years. Families and those affected who look after people with disabilities at home can apply for bons or vouchers that they can redeem for the care by the hour. This should relieve the caring relatives – flexibly and individually – and create time for relaxation, work or family obligations.

During this time, the support takes over qualified specialist staff. The financing is 90 percent covered by the von, ten percent of the costs are borne by the families themselves. The organization of the families is up to you are up to you. There are numerous providers in Vorarlberg – such as Lebenshilfe, Mohi, Caritas or family associations.
