The deadline for submitting amendments to the Finance Commission in the Senate is today, with voting expected on Wednesday. However, dissent arose following the introduction of an amendment presented by the Government and signed by the Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti on Friday night. The clash is primarily within the majority, with Forza Italia accusing the MEF (Ministry of Economy and Finance) of not sharing the details included in the amendment.

At the heart of the dispute is retroactivity, which has already altered the deduction to be spread over 10 years from the beginning of 2024 instead of 4. Raffaele Nevi, spokesman for forza Italia and blue deputy, stated that his party understands “the enormous problem of the Superbonus, but our liberal vision requires us to raise doubts about a measure that affects retroactively compared to programs and resources engaged on the basis of a different rule.” He added, “We cannot become aware of such impacting measures by reading it from the newspapers.”

Senator Fi Maurizio Gasparri also reiterated: “The retroactivity of the rules is a legal principle of which we invoke respect,” and called for a discussion within the majority and with the government.
