Jakarta – The heated rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in the WWE ring apparently carried over to the filming of the Street Fighter reboot film.
Whether they were afraid that these two wrestling stars would get into a real fistfight on set or why, the production team implemented super strict security protocols like guarding big-time prisoners.
In an interesting confession, Cody Rhodes (who plays Guile) told how the production team was very protective while they were on the same set.
The film crew used radio communications heavily just to make sure Cody and Roman’s paths never crossed.
“They were very alert on the radio… ‘Guile is stepping out, Akuma (Roman) is coming in.’ “They really took care that we didn’t run into each other,” said Cody as quoted by MovieWeb (15/3).
The two of them have a history of feuding in WWE and perhaps they were worried that the emotions from the wrestling ring would carry over to the set of the multi-million dollar film.
Even though they had been guarded as tightly as possible via radio, the security system was finally “cracked”. Cody said there was one moment where he had to interact with Roman because of technical problems regarding the direction of the trailer.
“We ended up crossing paths because I had to tell him the direction of one of the trailers. That was the only time we met, and it felt really awkward,” added Cody.
This awkwardness reportedly made the crew who saw it immediately tense, as if an emotional explosion would occur at any time.
In fact, even though their rivalry in the ring is very intense, both of them are still professional actors who are carrying out their duties as iconic video game characters.
This behind-the-scenes tension actually fueled fans’ curiosity even more. Many hope that the “cold” intensity between the actors Guile and Akuma will shine strongly on the big screen when the film is released on October 16 2026.
Imagine how the crew holding the radio felt, they must have been really nervous every time Cody or Roman moved from the trailer.
