An anchor in difficult times: Kojima’s moving review of Stranger Things
So Kojima drew in his latest Contribution on the short message service X (via Insider Gaming) an extremely emotional conclusion – and shared a pretty personal insight. As he revealed, the series, which started in 2016, marked a crucial turning point in his life.
It was the year in which he founded his own studio Kojima Productions after separating from Konami – a time that, according to his own statement, was characterized by “fear and loneliness”. And during this time, the Hawkins children became Kojima’s companions in the real world:
STRANGER THINGS has reached its finale.
For me it was a very special drama series. It started in 2016, during a difficult time for me, right after I became self-employed – a phase full of fear and loneliness. It was also the time when I started discovering streaming services as a new type of medium. Over the last ten years I have spent time with Eleven, the others and the people of Hawkins (including the monsters from the Shadow World); They gave me courage and always pushed me.
As I watched them grow through the story, I also grew in the ‘real world’ – my own version of the shadow world – by fighting, making connections, and finding my way in similar ways. It’s sad to think that I won’t see her anymore. But there is always a way to return to this ‘city’.
This is not a story about saying goodbye. As symbolized by D&D (the pen & paper role-playing game) at the beginning and at the end, the ‘story’ already lives on within us. By remembering this world and these characters and ‘replaying’ them in our heads, we can create new stories at any time.
Amidst the many stories that were born within us, they will live on forever. There they will meet again and continue their adventures. As long as we don’t forget, it is always ‘here’. Thank you, STRANGER THINGS.”
OD, Physint and spin-offs: What happens next for Kojima and Stranger Things

Currently we are with the mysterious horror title “OF” and the action spy adventure „Physint“ namely two extremely ambitious projects in development. Further spin-offs from Hawkins are also expected in the future, although no concrete details are available yet.
