Ronan Keating and Storm’s Eco-Friendly Dream Home Just Outside London
Pop culture icon Ronan Keating and his wife, Storm, have made their mark on the exclusive real estate market with their stunning, sustainability-focused mansion just outside London. Originally purchased as a run-down property in 2018, this £5m (€5.9m) home has been transformed into an eco-friendly haven that connects indoor living with the lush outdoors.
A Transformation from Ruin to Lush Oasis
In 2018, Ronan and Storm purchased a dilapidated house in London’s outskirts. Their vision was to create a home that would not only be a haven for their children, Cooper and Coco, but also be environmentally conscious and connected to nature. Seven years later, their vision has become a reality, as the ivy-choked ruin now boasts a sleek, modern design that exemplifies contemporary architecture and environmental sustainability.
Their journey is chronicled on Instagram, where they document every phase—from initial struggles with builders to the joy of family life in their renovated space. Their Instagram account, @thekeatingshouse, offers a glimpse into the Keatings family’s life and the collaborative effort they’ve undertaken in creating their dream home.
The Open Plan Kitchen and Living Area
One of the standout features of the house is the open-plan kitchen and living area. This room serves as the heart of the home, often the backdrop for family events and posts featuring the Keatings children. The space features large floor-to-ceiling windows, designed to bring an abundance of natural light into the home and foster a direct connection with the outdoor landscape. ‘We wanted to create large walls of glass throughout the house allowing us to see out of, and be connected with the surrounding landscape on every elevation,’ Storm explained.

This area is not just a place for gatherings; it’s a space designed with functionality and minimalism in mind. The room includes a large white sectional sofa, a marble breakfast bar, and a Yamaha piano by the window. The decor features a large stone coffee table and rows of hanging gold lights that add warmth to the space. The openness of this room extends into the outdoor areas, allowing for seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor living.

Thoughtful Outdoor Spaces
The outdoor areas reveal a well-thought-out plan, featuring an outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, and gym. The dining area, situated outdoors, has been a preferred spot for gatherings. Ronan has often been seen firing up the BBQ, making the most of the warm weather and scenic views. These external spaces are designed in harmony with the natural surroundings, blending indoor and outdoor living to create an idyllic environment.

The outdoor spaces serve as an extension of the home’s eco-friendly design philosophy. Solar panels power the entire site, and air source heat pumps contribute to reducing energy consumption. The property also features rainwater harvesting systems and sustainable waste management, ensuring that the mansion’s environmental footprint is minimal.

‘Our entire site with a swimming pool and tennis court will also be run via solar panels and air source heat pumps, making their energy output neutral also,’ Storm shared during the renovation process. ‘We are so proud and excited.’ This zero-carbon home exemplifies how modern design and environmental consciousness can go hand in hand.

Journey to Completion
The Keatings’ ambitions for the property didn’t materialise immediately. The couple initially faced obstacles, as the original structure wasn’t secure and required extensive plumbing repairs. Thus, they decided to level the house and start with a clean slate, building a space that aligns with their passion for sustainability and comfort.

After years of meticulous planning and construction, the family moved into their newly renovated home just before Christmas in 2021. This milestone marked the end of a challenging but rewarding journey, showcasing the couple’s commitment to their family and their belief in sustainable living.
