Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on Sunday received an invitation from the United States and Egypt to attend a Summe-El-Sheikh summit, says press release from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide also attends the meeting, which will be held on Monday.
– Norway supports this important step towards peace in Gaza. Now it is crucial that the hostages and prisoners are released, that humanitarian aid can let in and that the ceasefire stands. Norway will also support that the Palestinian authorities be secured in the future Gaza governance, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
The meeting will mark the conclusion of a first part of the US Peace Plan for the Middle East, and facilitate the further work.
