Stockton University: Parkinson’s Speech Therapy Program

by Archynetys Health Desk

GALLOWAY, New Jersey (WPVI) — Last year, Stockton University became New Jersey’s newest home for a collaborative program from Texas.

They model the “Parkinson Voice Project,” which strengthens speech and swallowing skills for those with the disease.

“We knew that we wanted to bring this to our community because so many people need speech and swallowing therapy, and we wanted to be able to bring a no cost option to our community in New Jersey,” said Michelle Swartz, Assistant Professor at Stockton University.

“We supervise our students who are able to provide therapy one-on-one with patients, and then we have ‘SPEAK OUT!’ classes throughout the week that we are able to provide virtually and in-person,” she continued.
