Sterling K. Brown: Family Life & Wife’s New Film Role

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

Sterling K. Brown wasn’t about to let that left Achilles tendon tear stop him from attending this year’s EBONY Power 100 Gala at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on November 4. Chosen as one of our 2025 Entertainment Powerhouses awardees, Brown’s been crushing it on screen with his television series Washington Black and Paradiseboth of which he executive-produces and stars in.

His gorgeous wife, actress Ryan Michelle Bathe, is currently out of town shooting a film, so Brown spoke about how he handles the part of the “dad-on-duty” at home when his wife is away.

“We do it one day at a time. You know what I’m saying,” he told EBONY behind the scenes at our epic portrait gallery. “You go over the schedule, you make sure you have everything in line. If you have to ask the nanny to stay a little later — like tonight — you say, ‘Yo, I got this event. She’ll come through and help you out.”

His sons, Andrew, 14, and Amaré, 10, are also helping out by being on their best behavior. “I’ve got two good boys. The kids are easy and they’re loving,” Brown gushed, decked out in a forest green DZOJCHEN suit. “They listen to me and they do what they’re asked to do.” Brown’s the first to admit in his current condition, “They know that daddy’s gimped up at the time being, so they’re being extra nice. They take it easy on me.”

Even on crutches, this Academy Award nominee knows how to serve up a meal. It’s as easy as one, two…dial. “I have a pizza that I’ll order, along with chicken wings. If someone doesn’t want pizza, we’ll get other things. You just take it one day at a time.”

Bathe can rest easy knowing her sons are in good hands when Dad’s in charge.
