The Stellantis company invests massively in a market among all. The figure is spine-chilling.
The new management of the Stellantis Group, a European giant that counts dozens of historic brands in its ranks from Opel to FIAT via Dodge and Peugeot, has the important task of totally relaunching the company, often prey to attacks by the press and various governments in recent years. Relocation, continuous recalls and the cases of the 1.3 engine with oil bath belt and Takata airbags they certainly didn’t help the reputation of this brand.
Now, under the management of Antonio Filosa who took over CEO Carlos Tavares – retired with a record severance pay – the company is looking around, trying to understand which direction it goes the market. An answer has already arrived from overseas. In fact, Donald Trump’s USA where Stellantis has a thriving and important market is apparently the land where it is worth investing.
The situation for European brands in the USA is also complicated due to the brutal duties imposed by the Republican politician which make importing cars into the States impossible without facing a huge expense. However, Stellantis has many production plants – 16 of which many are located in Michigan – on American soil which can therefore operate without worrying about these duties, often inherited from FCA. It’s time to revitalize them.
Billionaire investment in the USA; the incredible decision
The Netherlands-based company has decided – according to various sources – to invest massively in American plants and this with the primary objective of restoring lifeblood a Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep e in generale ai brand of the former FCA group. After difficult years, these brands actually seem capable of regaining a significant share of the market: for example, in 2024, Chrysler saw its sales increase on national territory by 166%.

That is the plan of Filosa and his collaborators to inject capital of 10 billion dollars of which 5 in the short term in the plants, with particular attention to Michigan and Illinois to subsidize the brands’ next projects. Among many, there is already talk of a new muscle car with a V8 Hemi engine which clearly goes against the trend with European sustainability and ecological transition policies, not exactly appreciated in the USA.
This record-breaking operation involves a large expenditure of capital but to earn, you must first invest. Stellantis’ American brands could prove to be the secret weapon to subvert a market trend which in the EU is seeing Chinese brands grow and companies such as Dacia and Renault make a clean sweep of its rivals, to the great disappointment of the managers of brands such as Peugeot, Opel and of course our FIAT.
