At the WTT Star Contender Doha, on the second qualifying day, Wim Verdonschot and Cedric Meissner have their chances of making it into the main draw, for which Benedikt Duda (TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt), Dimitrij Ovtcharov (TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell) and Annett Kaufmann (SV DJK Kolbermoor) are seeded based on their world ranking positions.
On Tuesday, after the DM runner-up Fanbo Meng was eliminated by Chang Yu-An (Taiwan), Cedric Meissner (1. FC Saarbrücken TT) won his first two qualifying games against the Egyptian Khalid Assar and the Indian Akash Pal. Meissner will contest the decisive singles match for the main field ticket on Wednesday against the Chinese Xue Fei.
Wim Verdonschot (SV Union Velbert) benefited from a bye in round one on Tuesday and will only play his first singles match against Tarvachinbo Buyan from Mongolia on Wednesday. The winner fights against the Portuguese Joao Geradlo or the Egyptian Mohamed Elbeiali for a ticket to the main field. The winner of the Feeder Gdansk also wants to get into the main tournament in the mixed doubles: together with the Belgian Lilou Massart, however, he faces a high hurdle against the world-class players Anders Lind/Adriana Diaz (Denmark/Puerto Rico).
