Staggered Pensions: Government Advice – Diepresse.com

by Archynetys News Desk

Since the advancement of and violent criticism of Chancellor Stocker, to adapt the pensions under the inflation, the discussion has been going on in the direction of social graduation.

The government is covered by the ongoing negotiations on the increase in pensions for 2026. Since Chancellor Christian Stocker (ÖVP )’s advance, who spoke out for an increase below the statutory adaptation factor of 2.7 percent at the beginning of the week, and the subsequent throbbing of the SPÖ for a full adjustment for smaller or medium pensions, the discussion is running in the direction of social session. The details remain unclear for the time being.

In the ORF “summer discussion”, Stocker spoke of a target value of two percent for the pension increase. Vice Chancellor Andreas Babler (SPÖ) said that this should not be at the expense of those who do not have high pensions. And: it is “inconceivable that you get very far down”. Other SPÖ representatives, in turn, said that small and medium -sized guest houses should receive the full 2.7 percent – but without naming precise figures. The most concrete was the Carinthian governor and SPÖ boss Peter Kaiser, who wanted to set the border with those guest houses that are below the media.

With these positions, a social graduation was practically brought into play. At the weekend, ÖGB President Wolfgang Katzian, who wanted the 2.7 percent for the “Gros” of the pensioners, also commented in this direction and pointed out that there was an increase graded depending on the pension amount. On Sunday, the “Kronen Zeitung” reported that social graduation itself is fixed – but negotiating is still being negotiated on the exact limits and percentage points.

“But it would be good to talk to each other”

There was no official confirmation for this from government circles – not even for a negotiation round mentioned by the newspaper on Monday and a desired agreement this week. In TV appearances, SPÖ representatives only referred to previous statements on Sunday. Transport Minister Peter Hanke called a graduation in the ORF “press hour” “one of the options”. He does not want to interfere in the conversations – but it is important that we “have a sense of savings”.

Federal Managing Director Klaus Raußheim, in turn, only insisted on a full adaptation for small and medium -sized guest houses in the “Hohen Haus”, without specifying this in more detail.

Hanke considers Hanke to be “not easy”. “But it would be good to talk to each other.” That would be good for the republic, its financial strength and the economy guild. “But it takes partners for that,” he said in the direction of the union.
