St. Pölten Election Results 2024 – SN.at

In St. Pölten, the new municipal council elections are taking place on Sunday, to which 44,063 people with their main residence in the Lower Austrian state capital are called. After the record number of 12,598 voting cards during the Corona pandemic five years ago, 6,540 were issued this time. This means that 14.84 percent (2021: 27.02 percent) of those eligible to vote have submitted corresponding applications.

42 mandates are up for grabs in the state capital’s town hall. The mayor Matthias Stadler – SPÖ (most recently 56.02 percent and 25 seats), Team Krumböck – People’s Party & Independents – ÖVP (22.74 percent, ten), FPÖ (8.92 percent, three), Greens (8.01 percent, three), NEOS (3.19 percent, one mandate) and KPÖ (1.11 percent) and the Multicultural Society list – LMG are applying.

“Preselection” has been possible since January 7th. With one exception, polling stations close at 4 p.m. According to the magistrate, a preliminary result can be expected around 7 p.m.
