After a remarkable career, Jacob Dahlström has decided to retire from professional hockey. The proclamation came from the HockeyAllsvenskan club Södertälje SK (SSK) on Thursday,confirming that the ongoing semi-final series against Djurgården will be his last.Dahlström, now 32, expressed that the decision wasn’t made lightly.

It has not been an easy decision to make, but it is indeed a decision that has emerged for a period. I feel it is indeed time to start a new chapter in life. What it will be I don’t really know yet,but I look forward to finding out.

it is indeed still tough but I still feel that I will feel a pride that we did something good, but right now it still burns properly. I am so sickly happy to have been part of this group, we have had a very unique team. it has been a group where everyone has really drawn in the same direction. I really think we showed it during the playoffs.

All players,leaders,staff and all supporters have meant and will continue to mean a lot to me. There are many people will be in my life, I am incredibly happy about that. Over his career, Dahlström has played over 400 games in the A-team sweater, including playoffs, solidifying his legacy within the club and the community.

SHL debut and Future Plans

Adding another highlight to his career, dahlström had the prospect to debut in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) in december 2024, on loan to Frölunda. While his immediate plans remain uncertain, he is eager to explore new opportunities and embark on the next chapter of his life.
