SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Keldon Johnson scored 25 points, Victor Wembanyama had 22 points and 14 rebounds, and the San Antonio Spurs never trailed Wednesday, beating an injury-depleted Oklahoma City Thunder 116-106 on Wednesday.
It was San Antonio’s fourth victory over the reigning NBA champions this season.
De’Aaron Fox had 15 points and ten assists, rookie Carter Bryant tied his season high with 11 points and San Antonio won its second straight game.
The Spurs (34-16) came within five games of the Thunder (40-12), leader of the Western Conference.
Kenrich Williams scored 25 points and Jaylin Williams added 24 points and 12 rebounds for Oklahoma City, which had just eight active players.
Last year’s MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, missed the game due to an abdominal strain. The Thunder were without their entire regular starting lineup, playing for the second straight night.
At the end of the third quarter, there was no one but the personnel on the bench, as Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault had his only three reserves preparing to enter, at a time when San Antonio had a 90-80 lead.
