SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — In the wake of a fatal shooting at the 505 apartments in Springfield on Wednesday night, Nov. 12, building management is implementing new security measures for residents.

According to an email sent to 505 residents on Friday, Nov. 14, and shared with Ozarks First, 505 management announced major changes following the shooting.

The email says beginning the evening of Nov. 14, pedestrian and resident access to the building will be limited to the main entrance. A guard will be stationed in the lobby to verify resident IDs and check in guests.

Residents must show a photo ID to the guard to enter the building, the email says.

All guests are required to check in with the guard and be met in the lobby by the residents they are visiting. Guests must be escorted by residents at all times, according to the email.

Additionally, the email says 505 has already extended guard hours and will conduct an audit of its security protocols, procedures and technology in the coming weeks, making adjustments and improvements as needed.

The extra measures come after residents provided keycard access for 28-year-old Candise Hoskins, the night of Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Hoskins was reportedly a former resident of the building but was not a 505 resident at the time of the shooting. She’s in the Greene County Jail without bond and faces felony charges of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and armed criminal action.
