Music streaming will be more expensive for users of a service from summer 2025. Spotify raises the prices for his subscriptions in Europe.
Since the prices for musical rights are increasing and Spotify invests in in-house productions, the streaming service raises its subscription costs for users in Europe.
This is how the subscription prices at Spotify change:
- The Einzelabo is increased to 11.99 euros per month.
- The Duo-Paket rises to 15.99 euros per month.
- The Student tariffwhich previously cost 5.99 euros, is raised to 6.99 euros.
- The Family-Abo will cost 18.99 euros per month in the future.
Reasons for the price increases at Spotify
Spotify justifies the price increases through improved features, such as integrated audio books and exclusive podcasts. The higher audio quality is also listed. Critics complain that the prices no longer meet the original “cheap offers” of 2015.
Despite the higher prizes, Spotify has been writing profits since 2023 and invests these income in AI-based personalization functions. These are intended to adapt playlists more precisely to the hearing habits of the users.
